As even more Chinese cities lock down their populations surrounding countries try to contain the spread of coronavirus. Thailand sees 11 million Chinese travellers a year and has been described as one of the countries most at risk.
The addiction treatment and medical sector in Thailand is experiencing reduced demand from overseas as patients take a ‘wait and see’ approach. While the risk is minimal the mainstream media around the world drive fear among the general population.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has warned against spreading panic saying: “You can burn anything you like, but do not burn your own country—burning it with distortion, with fake news. I am not quarrelling with you, but I must warn you.”
